Thinking about becoming a Cleaner? HR GO Recruitment can help you.

If you want to learn how to become a cleaner and want to enjoy the many benefits of this flexible and rewarding role, your next step is to create a stand-out application using the cleaner CV example below.

Although there is currently a vast number of hospitality jobs available for cleaners in the UK, that does not mean that your CV is not important. You still need to prove that you are self-motivated, self-disciplined and are able to work independently as well as with others.

Whether you are trying to find a job as a cleaner for the first time or you are hoping to improve on your current career prospects in the cleaning industry, the below cleaner CV sample will help you to achieve your goals.

Your personal profile

As with any CV that you write, your personal profile should concisely summarise who you are, what skills and experience you have that are relevant to the role and any career aspirations you may have.

This is the chance to sell yourself in only three or four sentences, so the words you use need to work hard. Always mention any cleaning experience you have, as well as any related qualifications, such as a first aid certificate.

Flexibility is key when you are looking for a job as a cleaner, so be sure to mention if you can start immediately and if you are happy with changeable hours.

Example:

Having worked as a part-time cleaner for the past two years, I now feel ready to take on the challenge of a full-time position. I am reliable, hard-working and take pride in my work. I have a first aid qualification, a full clean driving license and a DBS check.

Previous job experience

This section of your cleaner CV is crucial, although it is worth knowing that you do not need to have experience in cleaning in order to write a killer cleaner CV.

You should aim to focus on your most relevant skills and experience and explain how each of your previous roles and what they taught you can be applied to the position you are going for.

Your previous job experience should be formatted as below:

Job title

Name of employer

Location

Month and year started

A brief list of your duties and the skills you acquired while working there.

Try to match your skillset with the desired qualities in the job description. Take a look at the below example from a successful cleaner cv template:

Example:

Part-time Cleaning Operative, London Leisure Centre, London, May 2019-June 2020

Duties included vacuuming, cleaning and restocking the bathrooms, mopping and dusting.

Skills

In this section, you should focus on highlighting any skills that you have that the employer mentioned in the job description. Don’t worry if you don’t have all their preferred skills, as most will be desirable rather than essential.

Example:

Working independently – Whilst working at London Leisure Centre, I was required to effectively manage my own cleaning schedule, working without supervision and to tight deadlines.

Education history

Although there are no set qualifications needed to become a cleaner, this section does offer you a good opportunity to showcase any relevant qualifications you may have, as well as to list school qualifications. This could include any first aid or safety training you’ve received.

Example:

First aid at work, British Red Cross, London, May 2019

First aid training in how to respond to a wide range of accidents, injuries and accidents that occur in the workplace.

References

References are crucial if you want to secure a job as a cleaner, although it is worth noting that these do not have to be from a previous employer if you are looking for your first-ever job. If this is the case, a school tutor or character reference is acceptable.
