What is Psychometric testing?

Psychometric testing is the science of measuring mental abilities and behavioural traits using standardised assessments. Our test helps to understand how a person thinks, works, and interacts with others, which are all valuable insights for hiring and team development.

 

Why do we use them in Recruitment?

To make better hiring decisions! Our tool provides clear, objective data on a candidate’s personality and working style, helping you assess cultural fit, team dynamics, and long-term potential — not just skills or experience. When you’ve found the right candidate, it can also support career development, team building and onboarding and management planning.

 

What have we modelled our psychometric test on?

Our model is based on the Big Five Personality Traits of Personality, which focuses on:

  • Conscientiousness - How organised and goal-focused someone is
  • Agreeableness - How cooperative and empathetic they are
  • Neuroticism - Emotional reactivity and stress tolerance
  • Openness to Experience - Creativity and openness to new experiences
  • Extraversion - Sociability, assertiveness and emotional expression.

We look at these traits because they describe an individual’s behaviour, emotions and thinking patterns.

The Big Five remain relatively stable throughout most of our lifetime and are influenced by genetics and environmental factors. The Big Five sorts individuals into binary categories such as introvert and extrovert and ranks them on a scale between the two extreme ends of the 5 dimensions. 

 

 

 

 

How does the test work?

We use a standardised questionnaire consisting of 60 questions, where the individual rates themself on various statements and adjectives. This assessment provides scores for each of the five traits to create a comprehensive profile report that can be accessed through FONT.
