Do you like working outside of the classroom? Can you support pupils at Forest school and horse riding centres and improve their confidence and self-esteem?

HRGO Education are in search of an outreach tutor that can inspire pupils with Autism (ASD) at outreach activities.

HRGO Education are recruiting for a progressive ASD school based in Medway, Kent. They are seeking an outreach tutor with a passion for supporting young people with Autism (ASD). Outreach Tutors support pupils 1:1 in the classroom and off-site helping to develop their physical, social and mental well-being. There will also be vocational activities involved such as: Horse riding, Art therapy, wood work and Forest school so an enthusiastic, physically fit candidate is required.

The school was rated "Good" by Ofsted and are well resourced to support the additional needs of their young people. There is safe on-site parking and a local bus route that stops outside the school. The school is commutable from the surrounding areas of Rochester, Strood, Gillingham, Gravesend and Dartford.

The Outreach Tutor role:

  • Supporting pupils with ASD in the classroom and also taking them off-site in the school mini-buses to activity centres and outreach venues
  • Working 1:1 and with small groups of pupils at the school and off-site to support their learning
  • Being a positive role model and establishing positive relationships with pupils and helping to develop their social skills and self confidence
  • Working well with other members of the Outreach team to provide a stimulating learning environment.

What HRGO Education are looking for:

  • Previous SEND, Outreach, classroom, or youth work experience desirable
  • A desire to learn new ASD teaching strategies and skills to best support students
  • Be able to comfortably work 1:1 with pupils off-site and support their additional needs
  • Organised, reliable, friendly, hard-working and resilient with a good sense of humour.
  • Enhanced DBS or one in progress.
