We are looking for a Senior Technical Infrastructure (Networking) expert to provide specialist technical advice to ta large organisation as a whole on issues relating to the disciplines which fall under the remit of IT Networking. In particular, the post holder is responsible for providing advice and implementing solutions within the field.
To assist with strategic planning for Networking
To assess and diagnose faults which are raised via the IT Service desk and to implement solutions to these problems as a 3rd line specialist (top level support). Issues will pass through the Service desk and 2nd line support before being escalated to the IT Technical Team if required.
To fix network related faults where feasible or to recommend appropriate solutions understanding, acknowledging and describing the implications for the staff.
Facilitate the use of specialist diagnostic tools and fault finding techniques to identify and diagnose root causes.
To liaise with suppliers of hardware and software services.
To act as network consultant on Projects
To identify, recommend and implement changes to IT systems to improve capacity and performance and address potential risks as agreed with internal teams and staff.
To provide knowledge transfer to support better first line fix rates with service desk, and junior members of the Technical Team.
To contribute to the review and development of policies, processes and procedures.
To perform set-up and configure tasks on the IT network in accordance with the network plan
To contribute to and participate in IT related processes including Change Control, Major Incident and Problem Management
