Job Role: College Teaching Assistant

Location - Canterbury, Kent

HRGO Education are in search of a College Teaching Assistant to work in a dynamic College, supporting pupils (aged 16-18) with SEND needs on their journey to college and further education. This role is from October 2021.

HRGO Education are recruiting for a progressive college based in Canterbury, Kent. They are seeking a college Teaching assistant with a passion for supporting young people with SEND and a desire to help these pupils progress into further education.

This is a very rewarding role with lots of variety in the working day. The role will involve 1:1, small group and in-class support. In conjunction with Teachers, you will be responsible for using a range of techniques and approaches to meet the special education needs of learners as outlined in their EHCPs. As well as supporting students academically, the role includes: helping them navigate the college and preparing them socially for further education and working life.

The Canterbury based college was rated "Good" by Ofsted and are well resourced to support the additional needs of their young people. The college has safe staff and parking on site. You can easily commute to the college from the local areas of Ashford, Faversham and Thanet.

The College Teaching Assistant role:

• Supporting pupils 1:1 and leading small groups in a post-16 college environment
• Helping pupils with various SEND including: Mild learning difficulties (MLD) and Physical Disabilities
• Being a positive role model and establishing positive relationships with pupils and helping them to navigate the college and support them academically and socially
• Working well with other members of the college team to provide a stimulating learning environment for all.

What you will need:

• Previous SEND, Care or social work experience is (desirable but not essential).
• level 2 qualifications (competent in English and Maths or equivalent) and have the academic capabilities to support GCSE/BTEC and A-level pupils.
• Organised, reliable, friendly, hard-working and resilient with a good sense of humour.
• Enhanced DBS or one in progress.
