This family-owned residential property company, established in 1989 require a Bookeeper to replace their current Bookeeper leaving in April. The business has a long-term property rental portfolio as well as some short-term Airbnb rental properties, mostly around the Bishop's Stortford area and a few abroad.

There will be a handover period with the current bookeeper. This is a part-time position, starting with 4-6 hours per week and eventually building up to 16 hours per week. The role is ideally suited to someone with extensive accounting/bookkeeping experience and if you have a property letting background, this will be a huge benefit. The idea candidate will have experience of using Xero accounting software and someone who is great at implementing effective IT systems to help streamline operations.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Maintaining records of financial transactions by establishing accounts; posting expenses and other transactions.
  • Checking rental income is paid and various costs/invoices are paid on time.
  • Balances general ledger by preparing a trial balance; reconciling entries.
  • Liaising with our accountancy firm in London, supplying information they required
  • Preparing financial reports by collecting, analysing and summarising account information.

We are very flexible to work with in regards to days and hours. This is a remote position and will only require you to occationally pop into the office to pick up any receipts/ invoices, etc.

Initially it will require you to work between 4-6 hours each week. Hourly rate of £15.00 per hour. The role will eventually grow for someone who is able to manage more of the business for the owners. Once this becomes apparent that an applicant is capable of doing more, the hours and salary will be increased accordingly.
