We are looking for a Transport Planner for our client based in Hythe. Must have proven ability within a transport environment. The ideal candidate will have previous haulage experience, good IT skills and excellent geographical knowledge. Must have great communication skills, experience of managing a varied workload within a transport environment, an ability to methodically plan routes and an understanding of driver's hours regulations. You will be required to route vehicles around the UK, source back loads and ensure minimum empty mileage is achieved. You will be liaising with the Ops team daily , checking the system for planned container deliveries and arranging the haulage with the companies own fleet or Third party hauliers. A minimum of 3 years experience within transport planning is essential.
Duties Include
Oversee the running of and drive growth in freight operations and daily planning of 25- 30 vehicles.
Building relationships with new and existing clients.
Load planner.
Plan the transport accordingly.
Advising the suppliers of the collection / pick up details.
Negotiating prices with hauliers.
Booking the deliveries into the respective destinations.
Raising jobs and assisting admin as required.
Monitoring deliveries ensuring they are on time
Advising clients of any delays etc
Logging and co-coordinating responses to invoice queries.
Managers CPC Qualification is an advantage.
This is a permanent role, 4 on 4 off shift patter, hours 6.00am - 6.00pm.
