The company

Located in the heart of the historic market town of Shepton Mallet, Somerset, my client who are a highly respected family business have been restoring and conserving historic buildings and structures for 40 years.

Currently employing 75 members of PAYE staff, turnover of £9 million, they are unique in the South West for employing directly the full range of traditional tradesmen, including joiners and stonemasons in our workshops.

The Role

We are looking for someone who wants to have a great career as a QS

This would suit someone who likes maths and excel spread sheets as there are lots of calculations

This is an excellent opportunity for a bright, enthusiastic person who has a desire to work in the Building Industry. The successful candidate will be trained by highly qualified existing members of the QS team and will include placement at the University of West England in studying Quantity Surveying. With the added option of training to get a professional qualification at the end of the degree.

The job role will include :

Assisting with placing orders and liaising with subcontractors, learn how to ensure that projects are run to budget and report on project profits.

Be trained to submit interim monthly valuations and final accounts.

Be taught how to ensure that projects are run to budget and report on projects profits to the Managing Director.

Listen in on Site Process Meetings. Be taught Estimating and undertaking smaller tenders.

Requirements

• Enthusiastic with good communication skills

• Maths A level or above

• Competent in excel, emails and general IT

• Own car

Package

• £22,000 annual salary

• 22 holidays plus bank holidays

• All university costs paid
