Trainee Buyer & Estimator

We are working with a rapidly expanding company that has been established over 15 years , in this time they have seen considerable growth and gained a great reputation for what they do!

This is a full time permanent position and the hours of work are Monday to Friday 08:30 - 17:00 with an hour for lunch (office based)

As a Trainee Buyer & Estimator you will work very closely with Managers to ensure projects remain profitable by purchasing the best value/cost effective materials.

You must have an understanding of construction and the role will require occasional site visits.

The role:

Contacting suppliers and sub contractors to obtain quotes
Identifying new suppliers and products
Costing all materials for projects
Keeping work schedules organised and up to date
Working with colleagues in other departments to ensure accurate estimates for tenders
Visiting project sites to gather information
Analysing drawings & other project documentation in order to estimate costs
Trouble shooting challenges in an effective manner by liaising with contractors to manage the flow of materials.
Keeping up to date with the latest construction technologies
Ensuring compliance with the safety, health and environment requirements of materials and services

The person

Knowledge of the construction industry is essential
Strong IT skills in MS Office including Outlook, Excel, Word
A proactive approach to work and the ability to work to tight deadlines
Ability to work within a team or independently
Full and clean driving license
Confident communicator with great negotiation skills
