HRGO Recruitment has an exciting opportunity to fulfil the role of an Access to Information Officer.

The client receives approximately 600 requests for information each year under the Data Protection Act 2018/GDPR, the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and the Environmental Information Regulations 2004. This role will co-ordinate the Council's responses ensuring that statutory deadlines are met, and any appropriate exemptions or exclusions applied.

About you:

• You will need to be able to demonstrate an excellent knowledge of current Information Governance Legislation including Data Protection, FOI and EIR.
• You must have a detailed understanding and ability to interpret specific legislation and be able to understand Information Governance challenges and recommend solutions in a clear and consistent manner.

We would welcome applications from candidates who have a relevant professional qualification or working towards one - examples include but are not limited to professional certificate in Freedom of Information or Data Protection.

You will:

• Provide advice and guidance to employees at all levels regarding the application of Access to Information legislation and guidance.
• Promote awareness of FOI, GDPR and EIR within the guidelines.
• Support the Data Protection Officer to ensure that appropriate information management training and communications are developed and delivered.
• Liaise with the Information Commissioners Office and individuals in the investigation of Access to Information complaints.
• Be looking to improve the way we engage with our employees, residents and customers to ensure they are at the heart of everything we do.
