HR Go Driving are offering a Full-Time position on behalf of successful, family owned haulier Bretts Transport. Job Title: Support Transport Planner Salary: £22,000 - £24,000 (experience dependant) to be reviewed as you become a more experienced, operational planner Hours of Work: Monday to Friday a 10 hour shift between the hours of 0600 & 1900 (as the business requires) and 1 in 3 Saturdays' you will work 0600 - 1200 and look after the phones until 2200. Reporting to: Transport Manager Location: Guyhirn, Peterborough Bretts Transport are looking for a Support Transport Planner to assist in the management of the delivery vehicle fleet as efficiently and profitably as possible, whilst ensuring delivery deadlines are met and that legal compliance is not compromised whilst doing so. This is an excellent role for an individual inexperienced in Transport and Logistics but who is keen to get in to this line of work. Main responsibilities: o Allocation of drivers and vehicles to appropriate journeys taking in to account drivers hours regulations, operational efficiencies and delivery times o Planning of backhaul to ensure that the fleet runs at maximum possible capacity and efficiency at all times o Plan collections from third party warehouses and customers' premises. o Liaise with subcontractors to allocate work and agree subcontract rates o Answering telephones, responding to email queries received from customers and delivery points in a timely and professional manner. o Completion of discrepancy reports when required. o Work with drivers to ensure they operate legally complying with European driver's hours and VOSA regulations o Adhere to all company policies, procedures and terms and conditions of employment. o Any other ad hoc duties as required. Personal Qualities o Be prepared to work flexibly as part of a strong, dedicated team. o Ability to make decisions quickly, flexible and logical attitude to problems - erratic volumes, vehicle breakdowns and delays. o Calm under pressure - be able to finish assigned tasks. o Strong organisational skills and attention to detail. o Good communicator - both written and verbal skills. o Flexible approach to working hours. o Good understanding of PC systems including Microsoft Word, Excel and RoadRunner Traffic Management Systems
