My client is an international consumer brand with over 500,000 product users worldwide, offering a comprehensive remuneration package for a highly motivated and driven Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, to include relocation assistance and Visa sponsorship. Based in Singapore, they are looking to expand their Product Team of 30 staff.

The Role

In this Senior Mechanical Design Engineer role, you'll design innovative concepts to solve ergonomic and assembly issues. You will also:

● Draft designs in CAD (Solidworks)

● Prototype and test concepts to verify their functionality, performance & durability

● Work closely with the design team to develop their ideas into plausible concepts

● Design For Manufacturing & Assembly (DFX)

● Output all relevant files and documentation for suppliers (CAD & Engineering Drawings)

● Advise relevant teams on materials and manufacturing processes

● Work with external engineering consultancies for specialist engineering projects

● Assist the project managers with the communication of product specifications with suppliers

● Assist quality and reliability engineers to identify and propose solutions for product failures

● Travel to the factory when necessary

Skills and experience

With at least 5-8 years' experience as a Mechanical Design Engineer with exposure to consumer goods, furniture and dynamic mechanisms, you'll have most of the below:

● A degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent

● High level of proficiency in CAD (Solidworks, Pro-e, Inventor)

● Expertise in a wide range of manufacturing processes and materials

● Extensive first-hand experience working at contract manufacturers and their suppliers

● Very hands on with prototyping and testing

● Creative yet pragmatic approach to design engineering

● Experience performing design for high-volume manufacturing

● Keen eye for good design

● Prior experience in a relevant industry such as the consumer furniture space
