Our Client based in Dover, is looking for a Senior Customs Clearance Shift Leader to join their team. This will suit a person with full knowledge of customs procedures and principles. Excellent communication skills, who can build and develop strong working relationships. Excellent knowledge of Microsoft office and ability to speak another European language would be advantageous. In-house training and support in all aspects of the job will be given and you can expect an exciting role in the Logistics Industry.
Your Responsibilities:
Calculating Duty/VAT cost for each consignment.
Processing Import/Export declarations (Home Use/CFSP/NCTS/Permanent Export).
Dealing with general enquiries from importers/exporters concerning all areas relating to Customs Procedures i.e. Tariff Classifications, Duty Rates and any other documentation requirements.
Keeping up to date with changes in regulations, laws and Customs procedures.
Answer HMRC Declaration queries as and when they arise.
Assist the International Customs Compliance Manager in ensuring entries are completed correctly.
Provide basic customs clearance training to new operatives.
Monitor employee productivity on a day-to-day basis.
You must be fully conversant with all aspects of Customs procedures and keep yourself informed regarding Brexit negotiations. You must be aware of the current positions between the UK and the EU and have the ability to assess the impact that Brexit options will have on the UK Marketplace.
