An exciting opportunity has become available for a client in the wells area looking for a Laboratory Technician.

This role will need someone who has a good sense of humour, as the team is small but very friendly so getting along with your colleagues will be imperative. Because our client is so busy, they are looking for someone who is a hard worker, willing to "muck in" and hit the ground running. Though full training will be provided in the ways that our client operates, the successful candidate would preferably have experience in bacteriology and relevant Dairy and Laboratory experience would be an advantage but not essential. You will also have excellent people and communication skills and must have knowledge of word, excel and outlook, experience with Microsoft access would be desirable

Hours and Pay: The hours are Monday to Friday 9AM to 5PM however; you must be flexible to work 8AM to 6PM in the busy periods and the odd Saturday from 9AM to 12noon in which you will get time off in lieu. The pay rate is £18-£20k depending on experience. 20 days holiday plus bank holidays, SSP and free parking!

Duties: You will be working in a clinical, laboratory environment, testing milk samples, logging the findings on the system, so excellent data entry skills will be required. You will be using a DELTA COMBI SCOPE which tests milk constituents and somatic cell count (SCC). This is a very busy lab and you could be on your feet for extended periods, so please be prepared to stand a lot during the day! You will ideally have knowledge of the different lab accreditation's as this client is currently accredited to ICAR Certificate of Quality and intends to accredit further. You ideally will have knowledge and/or experience with ELISA's and experience with filling in and completing compliance forms. The ideal candidate will have milk bacteriology and milk analysis experience.
