Salary is £32,937 working Monday - Thursday. Overtime available both Friday and Sunday at time and a half. There is also opportunity to work shifts, 2 weeks days and 2 weeks night, increase of 47% when working nights.

We are presently looking for Fabricators to join the team that is at the forefront of supporting the production of the Type 31/ Inspiration class of warships.

What do I need to do the role:

You'll have the ability to read engineering drawings and interpret work instructions, be competent in the use of handheld and semi-automatic burning equipment and general workshop machinery and tools specific to fabricating.

You will be expected to undertake general fabrication activities through the following list, which is not exhaustive but includes:

  • Sheet plate and steel section fabrication

  • Lining out and marking off

  • Interpretation of drawings, and specifications, for fabrication work

  • Grinding, burning and drilling

  • Use of disc cutters, guillotine and band saws

  • Arc air gouging

  • Tack welding

  • Making moulds and Templates

  • Fabrication and fitting ventilation

As well as Daily routine maintenance checks the post holder will be expected to plan, and execute, operations in a safe and controlled manner on behalf of the Company in accordance with the HSE at Work act and job specific method statements.

The successful candidate will be expected to work the hours required to complete the job in line with shifts and agreed arrangements, often out-with standard hours.

  • Ideally will have worked in the marine industry with experience of Royal Navy ships and submarines, Royal Fleet Auxiliary vessels or large commercial ships - although other relevant experience will be considered.

  • You'll need to hold qualifications in at least one of the following:

  • Indentured Apprenticeship and at least 4 years relevant experience.

  • Level 3 Modern Apprenticeship in a sheet metal, structural steel or fabrication related discipline

  • Level 3 Engineering qualification relevant to the role
