We are looking for a Emvionmental Healthy and Safety Officer

To act as a competent person, ensuring that safety, health and environmental management policies comply with legislative requirements and are applied consistently and rigorously across the business. To help drive a culture of health, safety and environmental excellence throughout the business.

Accountabilities

• Further develop, create, review and implement safe systems of work and risk assessments across the business to include site projects.
• Assist in the development and deliverance of internal ISO 45001 and 14001 audit plans.
• Monitor and assist the Project Team with the implementation of suitable project risk assessments and method statements.
• Coordinate regular site safety inspections on our customer sites. Carry out required housekeeping and health and safety inspections at the business premises.
• Look after the health, safety and welfare of all employees.
• Be responsible for conducting investigations and inspections, enforcement of acts and regulations, incident response, carrying out monitoring, licensing and assessment activities, and providing technical advice pertaining to environmental, health and safety (EH&S).
• Coordinate and progress the Company's goal to be carbon neutral.
• Advise the business on statutory changes in environmental and health and safety legislation.
• • Work closely with the Management Systems Manager and the Managing Director to ensure the long-term introduction of all business improvements relevant to environmental, health and safety. Provide a monthly EH&S management report for the board.
  • Ensure environmental, health and safety policies and procedures are implemented, communicated and adhered to by everyone.
  • Carry out incident and near-miss investigations and apply corrective and preventive actions.
  • Provide support to ensure compliance where CDM regulations and duty holder appointments apply.
  • Work with consultants and external auditors to manage and deliver our current audit plans, ensuring that all areas are compliant with our policies and procedures. Actively contribute to continuous improvement.
  • Organise and chair environmental, health and safety committee meetings. Attend other meetings as requested.

  Overview of required qualifications, knowledge, experience, skills and attributes.

• Essential:

  • Minimum of 3 years working in an operational role with direct EH&S responsibilities
  • English and Maths GCSE at Grade C or above or equivalent
  • Health and safety qualification at diploma level through NEBOSH or IOSH
  • Experience and knowledge of CDM
  • Good ICT skills
  • Good planning and organisational skills
  • Excellent communication and people skills
  • Ability to manage several tasks concurrently and meet deadlines
  • Be hardworking and conscientious with the ability to motivate and support
  • Have the ability to work calmly under pressure
  • Show good initiative, be enthusiastic, self-motivated and lead by example
  • Good attention to detail
  • Hold a valid driving licence

37.5 hours a week
