Job Description

Warehouse- First Line Manager

JOB PURPOSE

To ensure we fulfil their responsibilities relating to the distribution of the client contract based at the Deeside DC and assisting within the network.

Providing leadership and guidance for approximately 200 Warehouse Operatives including agency staff to enable them to meet objectives, encouraging open communication and addressing operational issues effectively.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Providing leadership and guidance for the shift warehouse team, addressing operational issues effectively and in a timely manner.

* Manage and coordinate all daily tasks within the team.

* Proactively manage the daily activities of the client within the contracts.

* Take responsibility for health and safety and the co-ordination of associated activities.

* Ensure a customer focused approach and be responsive to customer requirements. Create excellence in customer relationship management by continuously improving the service offered.

* To ensure excellent communication to the Shift Manager on a day to day basis and to deliver any agreed actions required to keep the operation efficient.

* Discrepancy resolution and management of customer service issues and ensure customer service levels meet or exceed the contractual agreement at site base Deeside.

* Responsible for managing change positively and effectively by pro-actively managing operational planning.

* To monitor the warehouse operational activities, ensuring that contractual obligations for the customer are achieved, generating solutions for improvement where necessary.

* Working with Senior Management to ensure that the use of core /agency staff are optimised in line with business requirements (i.e. resource levels are appropriate for the volumes)

* Managing customer perception through meeting service levels, ensuring service failures are communicated effectively and that recurring issues are resolved.

QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS

Skills

* Confidence in utilising Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

* Strong leadership skills with the ability to develop and coach teams to ensure excellent performance.

* Taking responsibility and demonstrating commitment and leading by example

* Key decision making

* Good interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective relationships

* Support and encourage a good team working spirit and ensure that the warehouse teams work effectively and communicate frequently to achieve the business objectives

Experience

* Experience supervising or managing a team in a complex warehouse environment

* Experience of improving employee engagement

* Experience in working in substantial Trade Union environments

* Experience of managing conflicting priorities in a fast moving multi temperature environment.

Planning and organising skills within a warehouse operation
