HRGO Recruitment is recruiting on behalf of York Minster for enthusiastic and friendly Visitor Experience Hosts to join their Visitor Experience Team for the busy summer season.

Working Hours
- Part-time position
- Typically 3 to 5 shifts per week
- Average shift length of 6 hours
- Day shifts between 9:15am and 5:00pm
- Weekend working required on a rota basis
- Occasional evening work may be required to support events
The Role
As a Visitor Experience Host, you'll play a key role in ensuring every visitor enjoys a safe, welcoming and memorable experience.
Key responsibilities include:
- Welcoming visitors and providing a friendly, professional first impression
- Assisting with visitor enquiries, ticketing, events and activities
- Supporting visitor experiences throughout the Minster, Museum and Tower attractions
- Managing visitor flow and queues during busy periods
- Promoting York Minster's services, events and visitor experiences
- Delivering exceptional customer service and acting as an ambassador for York Minster
- Supporting visitors with accessibility requirements and individual needs
- Maintaining clean, safe and accessible public areas
- Identifying and reporting health, safety or security concerns
- Assisting with emergency procedures and evacuations when required
- Providing first aid support following training
- Working collaboratively with colleagues across the organisation
About You
We're looking for someone who is:
- Experienced in a customer-facing role
- Friendly, confident and approachable
- Passionate about delivering outstanding customer service
- Comfortable engaging with people of all ages and backgrounds
- Positive, proactive and able to remain calm under pressure
- A strong team player with a flexible approach
- Aware of health and safety responsibilities
- Comfortable using computer systems and Microsoft Office applications
Desirable Experience
- Hospitality, tourism, retail, leisure, heritage or visitor attraction experience
- Till or ticketing system experience
- Additional language skills
- An interest in history, heritage, architecture or tourism
- Experience supporting events or public-facing activities
Please Note
This role will involve:
- Standing for extended periods
- Working both indoors and outdoors
- Accessing all public areas of the Minster, including heights and confined spaces
- Participating in Tower Challenge duties, including climbing 275 steps (full training provided)
- Working during weekends and peak visitor periods
