Junior / Trainee Manufacturing Engineer (Aerospace Manufacturing) - excellent entry level opportunity with training in this large established aerospace precision engineering company
This is a training-focused opportunity that would suit someone who has recently completed an Engineering Apprenticeship (or has a strong engineering foundation) and wants to develop a long-term career in Manufacturing Engineering.
In this role, you'll help turn customer drawings and bills of material into clear, practical manufacturing plans for sheet metal parts, machined components, sub-assemblies and full assemblies. You'll also support the coordination of tooling and any external processes required to deliver work efficiently and to specification.
Support contract reviews for both new and repeat orders.
Interpret customer drawings, specifications, and quality/regulatory requirements, translating them into defined methods of manufacture.
Create, control and log engineering paperwork in line with the company's QMS.
Produce bills of materials (BOMs) and routings for individual details and assemblies.
Plan manufacturing operations and set out the most effective sequences of work.
Maintain job information within the MRP/ERP system, including:
entering set and run times using historical data, estimating inputs and standard times
creating jobs from customer/internal orders or system-generated suggestions
producing job travellers and supporting the build of complete job packs
Collate and issue job packs to Production, ensuring all required technical information is included (e.g., drawings, BOMs, condition of supply and process sheets).
Raise requisitions for materials and support procurement, including tooling and outsourced operations where needed.
Liaise with customers and shop floor teams to resolve manufacturing/engineering queries quickly and effectively.
Assist with NCR/RCCA activity and help close out issues arising during production.
Provide day-to-day support to the Engineering Manager and wider Engineering team.
Essential:
Experience in a manufacturing / Engineering environment.
Strong communication skills and a well-organised approach.
Comfortable using Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Team player with a positive attitude and willingness to learn.
Desirable:
Aviation/aerospace exposure.
CATIA V5 / 3D modelling knowledge.
Experience using MRP/ERP systems
