HRGO is recruiting for a long-standing local business in Dumfries. This is a busy, customer-facing trade counter role, supporting customers in person and by phone/email to source the right tools, equipment and products. Experience is beneficial, but attitude, confidence and willingness to learn are just as important.
Key responsibilities
Serve customers at the trade counter, providing a professional, helpful service
Handle incoming phone and email enquiries and respond promptly
Advise on suitable hire equipment, tools and related products
Prepare quotations and accurately process orders/hire requirements
Build relationships with trade customers and encourage repeat business
Upsell/cross-sell products and services and follow up on quotes/leads
Coordinate availability, collections and deliveries with colleagues
Manage hire/sales documentation, payments and general counter admin
Skills & Experience
Background in trade counter sales/customer service/sales (tool hire, builders' merchants, construction supplies or similar preferred)
Confident communicator, comfortable dealing with customers in person and by phone
Strong rapport-building and customer relationship skills
Commercially aware with a proactive sales approach
Organised, accurate and able to juggle multiple enquiries
Comfortable using computer systems and completing admin
Reliable team player who thrives in a fast-paced environment
Interest in tools/equipment/construction/hire industry is an advantage
