Job Role: Teaching Assistant

Location - Swanley, Kent

HRGO Education are in search of a teaching assistant that can support pupils with autism (ASD) and challenging behaviours.

HRGO Education are recruiting for a progressive SEND school based in Swanley, Kent. They are seeking a Teaching Assistant with a passion for supporting young people with Autism (ASD) and challenging behaviours. Previous experience with autism is desirable, however training is provided by the school so candidates with a positive attitude that want to begin a career in SEND education will be considered.

You will be supporting pupils in small groups with their learning and managing their emotions/behaviour throughout the school day. The role is full-time, and you will be working alongside class teachers and other Teaching Assistants in small classes of 5 pupils.

The school was rated "Good" by Ofsted and is well resourced to support their young people. It has residential students and lots of outdoor activity spaces including a forest school, horse riding and swimming activities. The school is located in Swanley, Kent close to the surrounding areas of Dartford, Bexley and Bromley. Safe, on-site parking is available for all staff.

The Teaching Assistant role:

• Supporting the Class Teacher and working in small groups with pupils at the school helping them with their classwork and outdoor activities
• Being a positive role model and establishing positive relationships with pupils, helping them to develop both academically and socially
• Working well with teachers and other members of school staff to provide a stimulating learning environment for pupils

What you will need:

• Previous experience supporting young people with SEND or ASD is desirable. However candidates with the right positive attitude, empathy and resilience will be considered as training is provided by the school.
• Be confident working 1:1 with pupils and manage challenging behaviours
• Patient, reliable, friendly, hard-working and resilient with a good sense of humour
• Enhanced DBS or one in progress
