Job Title: Shift Team Leader
Salary: From £33k per year (Dependant on Experience)
Location: Dumfries
Hours: 12 hour Shifts (4 on 4 off inc Days/Nights rotations)

Job Summary
HRGO Recruitment is seeking an experienced Shift Team Leader for our client's manufacturing facility based in Dumfries. It is essential that this candidate has strong leadership experience and is able to manage a small team in an exciting and fast paced manufacturing environment. This role is crucial to the site Production Team, and it essential that the Team Leader can demonstrate both a good hands-on approach to leading a team while also being able to carry out key administrative tasks.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a safe working environment by enforcing HSE standards, conducting routine PPE audits, and ensuring consistent site cleanliness and housekeeping.
  • Ensure product quality is upheld across all production lines to meet customer requirements and satisfaction targets.
  • Lead, coordinate, and support the team to meet time-critical production schedules and output targets.
  • Oversee day-to-day operational activities, providing clear direction, technical support, and problem-solving assistance to team members.
  • Accurately record and manage all material and product movements to maintain full traceability and effectively manage inventory.
  • Lead the induction, onboarding, and on-the-job training of new starters within the team.
  • Manage HR-related processes including absence, performance, conduct, and return-to-work procedures, ensuring all actions follow policies set by the company.
  • Actively support the development of team members by providing training and closing any skills gaps.
  • Provide cover for Team Leader duties across the shifts in collaboration with other Team Leaders to maintain continuous leadership across the site.

Required Background and Experience:

  • Proven experience in a supervisory or team leadership role within a production or manufacturing environment.
  • Operational experience across multiple areas of production, with the ability to adapt to varying processes and workflows.
  • Evident potential to lead, engage, coach, and develop team members effectively.

Required Technical Skills:

  • Proficient user of Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Word.
  • Solid understanding of relevant legislation, including Health & Safety requirements and compliance standards.
  • Ability to deliver training and coaching on production lines under your responsibility.
  • Experience operating or supporting machinery used for Plastics Manufacturing or Extrusion is advantageous.
  • Experience with technical aspects of machinery such as tool changes and minor fixes would also be advantageous.

  • Strong interpersonal and organisational skills, with good task prioritisation.
  • Able to lead others and identify training needs.
