SHEQ Coordinator

Location: Ashford, Kent
Job Type: Full-Time | Permanent

An established and growing business is looking to recruit an organised and proactive SHEQ Coordinator to join its team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in health, safety, environmental and quality systems who is looking to develop their career within a supportive and fast-paced environment.

Working closely with the SHEQ Manager, you will assist in maintaining compliance across the business, supporting continuous improvement initiatives and helping to ensure the highest standards of safety, quality and environmental performance are achieved.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the administration and continuous improvement of the company's SHEQ management systems.
  • Maintain accurate SHEQ records, documentation and compliance databases.
  • Support internal and external audits, ensuring any actions are completed within agreed timescales.
  • Monitor compliance and prepare reports on SHEQ performance and key metrics.
  • Assist with the investigation of accidents, incidents, near misses and quality issues.
  • Help maintain risk assessments, safe systems of work and associated documentation.
  • Coordinate safety communications, inductions and toolbox talks.
  • Work with managers across the business to encourage a positive safety culture.
  • Support compliance with relevant legislation, standards and internal procedures.
  • Identify opportunities to improve operational processes and compliance.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Previous experience within a SHEQ, Health & Safety, Compliance or Quality role.
  • Excellent organisational and administrative skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to prioritise workload effectively.
  • Good knowledge of UK health and safety legislation.
  • Experience supporting audits and compliance activities.
  • Strong communication skills with the confidence to work across different departments.
  • A proactive approach and the ability to work independently when required.

Desirable

  • NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent.
  • Internal Auditor qualification.
  • Experience within engineering, manufacturing, construction or a similar technical environment.
  • Familiarity with ISO management systems such as ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
  • Experience using compliance or SHEQ management software.
