About the Role

We are looking for a proactive and hands‑on Production Manager to join this well-established precision machining, welding, fabrication engineering company located in the Bury St. Edmunds area.

The Production Manager will oversee and continuously improve day‑to‑day manufacturing operations. This is a key role within a well‑established manufacturing environment, responsible for ensuring efficient production processes, effective material control, and on‑time delivery.

The successful candidate will ideally have experience in CNC machining and/or fabrication, along with strong working knowledge of MRP/ERP systems.

This role offers a clear pathway to a future Director‑level position following a successful period of service and performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process sales orders accurately into the MRP system.
  • Manage materials and stock requirements, preparing purchase orders with appropriate delivery lead times.
  • Monitor and maintain production schedules to ensure products are delivered on time.
  • Use MRP/ERP systems to track production data, manage orders, and support operational reporting.
  • Work collaboratively with internal teams to align production plans and resolve workflow issues.

Experience & Skills Required

  • Proven experience in a production control or similar manufacturing role (essential).
  • Knowledge of MRP/ERP systems (training available if required).
  • Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills, with high attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and supply chain principles.
  • Background in CNC machining and/or fabrication is highly advantageous.
