To effectively manage all personnel and processing operations ensuring that production and quality targets are satisfied.

At all times make sure that employees are working safely, and the plant housekeeping standards are maintained.

Through effective communication and a continuously proactive approach make sure that all the main responsibilities are being carried below.


  • Throughout the shift monitor all processing operations continuously looking for any areas that can be improved. Any areas of improvements identified should be actioned immediately if required, investigated further and measured reports generated or brought to the attention of line managers.

  • Make sure that all members of your team are aware of what is expected of them, how they will be measured against your expectations and how you will address any gaps in expectation versus performance through coaching, training or if necessary other alternative methods.

  • Through Continuous Improvement, 5S and TPM make sure that the full value stream of the processing operation is being utilised at all times.

  • Ensure the Plant produces the required cullet within quality specifications and that the Plant is producing to the correct set up procedures in line with the required production schedules or instructions.

  • Ensure the Plant is run to maximum efficiency at all times and optimum output rates are achieved. Any areas that are not meeting KPI targets should be focused on and issues identified or areas of improvement and possible solutions documented and reported in a timely and effective manner.

  • Ensure that Plant downtime is kept to a minimum and any issues reported. Any Downtime issues once resolved should be investigated to see how future losses can be avoided and findings or solutions reported to all concerned to prevent future lost time occurrence for the same reason.

  • Manage and motivate members of your team continuously. Through return-to-work interviews and concerns meetings make sure that your team is kept below company attendance targets.

  • Promote and maintain a safe working environment and manage all areas of Health & Safety on your shift.

  • Attain shift production targets whilst maximising efficiency and minimising all waste streams. Report any variations to KPI targets and identify ideas or solutions to rectify as quickly and effectively as possible.

  • Create reports as required that provide the reasons for variances to targets and KPI's set.

  • Carry out Return to Work interviews with members of your team as required.

  • Carry out Risk Assessments as required and reviews, as necessary.

  • Assist as required with accident investigations and post-accident interviews / data gathering.

  • Make sure that effective handovers are carried out at the end of each shift making sure that the oncoming shift is taking over a plant as you would expect to find it and that all possible preparations have been made to make sure that the oncoming shift can operate as effectively and efficiently as possible.
