The role of Plant Operator, working 12 hour shifts on a continental rota 6am to 6pm, and 6pm to 6am.
To monitor all plant processing, sorting machines and screens making sure they are clean and operating effectively and continuously to their maximum efficiency.
To respond to any m/c issues, plant bottlenecks or blockages & react to plant alarms rectifying or reporting accordingly.
Overview:
Continuously monitor the flow of material through the plant and the various processing and sorting machines in a proactive manner that maximises the throughput, achieves the maximum efficiency possible whilst making sure that all quality specifications are met.
Be fully trained to operate and maintain all processing plant machines and have the necessary skills required to carry out productive maintenance as required throughout the shift and during plant outages for PPM.
Make sure that at the start and end of every shift the relevant paperwork is completed accurately to confirm that an effective shift hand over has taken place, everything that needed to be communicated from the previous shifts Plant Operatives has been and that the Plant has been handed over so that it can be operated in a safe working environment.
Ensure all plant screens are kept clean throughout the shift are free from damage and any finger bars or screen meshes that need changing through wear are done so in a timely and effective manner.
Ensure all landings and machines are always kept clean, any areas that are causing spillage should be reported and/or rectified as quickly and effectively as possible.
Assist the Team Supervisor to achieve production targets by maximising efficiency and minimising all waste streams across all plant machines.
Make sure that all landings, walkways and stairs are kept free of debris at all times and that any work being carried out is done so in a manner that does not restrict the safe access to keep effective checks on all plant machines and equipment.
Make sure that if Plant stoppages are required to gain access to further inspect or clean plant sorting machines or equipment that this is organised and actioned as quickly and effectively as possible to minimise the downtime.
Promote and encourage 5's culture at all times.
Communicate effectively with fellow team members to ensure work is being carried out efficiently and in a timely manner.
Pro-actively encourage and help co- workers when necessary.
A good knowledge of health and safety practices
Hold a current FLT license
Excellent communication skills both verbally and in writing
Excellent attention to detail
Possess logical fault-finding skills
Ability to work and manage multiple workloads simultaneously
Ability to work well under pressure. Strong Team Player
