Paint, Inspection & Despatch Operative

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Paint, Inspection & Despatch Operative to join a busy manufacturing environment in Ashford.
The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing, painting, inspecting, packaging and preparing finished steel products for despatch. You will be working within a quality-focused production environment where attention to detail and following safe working procedures are essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparing steel products for painting, including doors, panels, screens and fittings.
- Operating shotblasting equipment to prepare products prior to painting.
- Applying powder coatings and, where required, wet spray and red oxide coatings.
- Ensuring all painting and finishing work meets the required quality standards.
- Carrying out detailed quality inspections before and after painting.
- Identifying and reporting any quality issues or defects.
- Carefully packaging finished products to prevent damage during transportation.
- Preparing finished goods for despatch and ensuring correct labelling is applied.
- Assisting with loading goods ready for customer delivery.
- Providing updates on paint processes and expected completion times when required.
- Supporting continuous improvement within the paint and production areas.
- Following all company health & safety, quality and environmental procedures.
- Maintaining a clean and organised working area.
- Assisting with general production duties when required.
- Supporting internal quality audits and documenting any issues identified.
- Carrying out any other reasonable duties required by management.
About You
The ideal candidate will have:
- Previous experience within a painting, powder coating, shotblasting, manufacturing or production environment.
- Good attention to detail and a strong focus on quality.
- Experience working with metal or steel products would be beneficial.
- The ability to follow processes and quality procedures accurately.
- A reliable and hardworking attitude.
- Good awareness of health and safety within a manufacturing environment.
- The ability to work as part of a team while also working independently.
- Experience with packing, inspection or despatch would be advantageous.
