Teachright are looking for an Occupational Therapist to work with young adults aged 16 - 25 one day per week in a special education college.
This role will see you working in a specialist provision with the goal of helping these young adults with complex social, emotional and physical disabilities gain qualifications to gain employment.
This small specialist provision works to improve the employability of disadvantaged 16 - 25 year olds through practical training in Horticulture and Catering.
The Role:
The role of the SEN Occupational Therapist will be to deliver and regularly review the Occupational Therapy provision for students in the college who have Occupational Therapy needs outlined in section F of their Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). They will be expected to secure positive outcomes for students who have OT needs.
About You:
You will need to be a qualified Occupational Therapist who is HCPC registered and who has paediatric experience. You will have previous experience of assessing children who have special educational needs and of providing effective intervention within the school setting. You will be able to relate positively to children and young people across the age range. You will also communicate sensitively with parents and carers. You will be able to work effectively with educational settings. You will have experience of working in a team, demonstrating excellent interpersonal skills when liaising with other professionals and agencies. You will keep well-ordered and efficient clinical records. You will be able to manage your caseload independently and confidently, showing excellent organisational and time management skills.
Role Requirements:
You will provide high quality, school based Occupational Therapy intervention for children and young people, their families, care givers and special needs schools. This can include, but is not limited to: assessment, strategies, advice, training, modelling, programs and equipment/adaptation recommendations. You will be responsible for measuring the effectiveness of your intervention and evaluating outcomes.
