Hours: Full-time, Permanent - 37.5 hours per week, Monday-Friday (days)

HRGO Recruitment is delighted to be recruiting on behalf of our client, a leading global manufacturer with UK production operations based in Dumfries, Scotland and a global R&D presence in the UK.

We're looking for an experienced Mechanical Technician to join the site maintenance team, supporting production equipment availability through a mix of reactive, proactive, preventative and predictive maintenance-always working to the highest health & safety standards.

Key responsibilities:

  • Maintain, fault-find, repair and install mechanical equipment across production and site services
  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and support predictive/proactive maintenance activities to minimise downtime
  • Maintain rotating and static equipment including pumps, fans, gearboxes, bearings, valves, pneumatics, hydraulics and plant services
  • Work to tight tolerances and support precision maintenance where required
  • Work closely with production, engineering and contractors to prioritise and deliver maintenance tasks
  • Work to safe systems of work, complete risk assessments and ensure compliance with SHE policies and statutory requirements
  • Record and update maintenance activities and asset data using the site CMMS (desirable experience)
  • Provide flexible on-site support outside normal working hours when required (e.g. breakdowns, shutdowns, projects)

Key requirements:

  • Completed a recognised apprenticeship in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent)
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in a similar mechanical maintenance role within a manufacturing/industrial environment
  • Strong practical knowledge of pumps, fans, gearboxes, bearings, valves, pneumatics, hydraulics and plant services
  • Experience working to safe systems of work and completing risk assessments
  • Ability to work effectively and communicate within a team
  • Adaptable and flexible, with the ability to support outside normal hours when required

Preferred (but not essential):

  • Experience using a Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
  • Willingness to develop through training and upskilling
