Mechanical Design Engineer - Industrial Machine Design

Salary Guide: up to £45,000 pa

Job Type: Permanent, Full-time

Location: Cambourne - Sandy area. Own transport required due to location.
Office based position.

Leading manufacturer of industrial machinery and systems, specialising in the design and production of high-quality equipment for the food industry are seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer with expertise in Autodesk Inventor and a strong background in designing industrial machinery and systems.

The successful candidate will join a dynamic team, working closely with the drawing office manager to create detailed mechanical designs and drawings for our range of mechanical systems and equipment.

With a strong emphasis on innovation and customer satisfaction, our client is committed to delivering cutting-edge solutions that meet the evolving needs of our clients.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the drawing office manager and other team members to understand project requirements and deliver innovative mechanical designs for machinery and systems.
  • Utilise Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD (2D) to create accurate and detailed 3D and 2D models, drawings, and assemblies.
  • Conduct research and analysis to identify design constraints, technical specifications, and standards applicable to food machinery and systems.
  • Ensure compliance with industry regulations, safety standards, and quality guidelines throughout the design process.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, production, and quality assurance, to ensure seamless integration of designs into the production process.
  • Provide technical support to the manufacturing team during the production and assembly stages.
  • Perform design reviews, identify potential issues, and propose effective solutions.
  • Stay up to date with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices to drive continuous improvement and innovation in our designs.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Ideally Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Proven experience in mechanical design work, specifically in the design of industrial or food machinery and systems.
  • Proficiency in Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD (2D) is essential.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical design principles, materials, and manufacturing processes.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and regulations related to food machinery and systems.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to think critically to resolve design challenges.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to produce accurate and precise drawings.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
