Mechanical Design Engineer - Process & Packaging Machinery

  • Salary: Up to £45,000 per annum (DOE)
  • Own transport required due to site location

About the Company

Join a well-established industry leader in the design and manufacture of processing and packaging machinery. With a reputation for innovation and quality, the company is expanding its talented design team and is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to contribute to the development of bespoke automated machinery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create detailed 3D and 2D mechanical designs using Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD
  • Collaborate with internal teams and suppliers to ensure design feasibility, cost-effectiveness, and timely delivery
  • Support the full lifecycle of machinery design, from concept through to production

Essential Requirements

  • Proficiency in Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD
  • Solid background in mechanical design, ideally within machinery or automation
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Experience liaising with suppliers for pricing and lead times

Desirable Skills & Experience

  • Hands-on experience in machining, welding, and fabrication
  • Previous exposure to food machinery design and related systems
  • Working knowledge of:
    • Steam systems and energy calculations
    • Fluid systems, pumps, and piping
    • Pneumatics
    • Stress and load calculations
    • Motor and gearbox sizing
    • Sheet metal development
    • Machined part tolerances

Working Hours

Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM
