Job Description

Material Science Engineer

Candidates interested in this role will need to have a broad understanding and knowledge of materials engineering, ie non-metallic materials, materials processing, heat treatment, chemistry, materials development, failure analysis and tribology.

Candidates need to have a proven record of working in an engineering laboratory for a minimum of 2 - 3 years.

Duties will be:-

  • To support and guide product engineering with expertise in material science, such as failure analysis, wear, coatings, heat treatment, deposits and corrosion.
  • To prioritise and perform test activities, test analysis and measurement
  • To carry out calibration and basic fault diagnosis
  • To develop strong relationships with both product and manufacturing teams
  • To write work instructions, materials specifications and test methods
