Pay: £14.00 - £16.87 per hour, depending on experience, skills and competency

We are looking for a motivated and reliable Grader Technician to join an established production team within a modern fruit grading and packing operation.

This is a key operational role responsible for ensuring grading equipment is correctly set up and operated, production targets are achieved efficiently, and all graded fruit meets the required customer quality and sizing specifications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out grader start-up and safety checks before production begins.

  • Set up grading jobs on the production system according to the daily plan.

  • Ensure all grader parameters and settings are correct.

  • Monitor fruit quality, sizing and grader outlets throughout production.

  • Work closely with the Quality Assurance team and make adjustments when required.

  • Ensure the correct fruit is supplied for each grading job.

  • Monitor staff working within the grader area and ensure procedures are followed correctly.

  • Maintain high standards of Health & Safety, hygiene, food safety and compliance.

  • Monitor grading efficiency, fruit utilisation, defects and waste.

  • Complete Grade Out reports at the end of each grading job.

  • Complete production records and end-of-day reports.

  • Carry out regular grader performance checks, including Magic Eye testing.

  • Report equipment faults or damage promptly to management and the Engineering/Maintenance team.

  • Keep the grader and surrounding working area clean, organised and safe.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who is reliable, hands-on and comfortable taking responsibility in a busy production environment.

You should have:

  • Good communication skills.

  • A good level of written and spoken English.

  • A good understanding of maths.

  • Confidence using computer-based production systems.

  • The ability to work under pressure and meet production deadlines.

  • Excellent attention to detail.

  • A proactive approach and the ability to use your own initiative.

  • Flexibility and a willingness to learn.

  • A strong awareness of product quality, Health & Safety and food safety.

Previous experience working with fruit grading equipment or within the fruit, food production or manufacturing industry would be an advantage, but full training can be provided for the right candidate.
