Junior Buyer

Location: Beaminster, Dorset
Salary: £30,284.80 per annum + 12.5% annual bonus
Working Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm
Work Type: Permanent

Our client, a leading FMCG manufacturer, is looking for a Junior Buyer to join their growing Supply Chain team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with previous purchasing or buying experience who is looking to develop their career within a fast-paced and supportive environment.

As a Junior Buyer, you will play a key role in ensuring materials are available to support production, maintaining strong supplier relationships, and helping drive continuous improvements across the supply chain.

Key Responsibilities

  • Raise, track and manage purchase orders, ensuring all information is accurate and up to date.
  • Monitor supplier performance and ensure deliveries are made within agreed timescales.
  • Reschedule orders in line with production requirements and proactively resolve supply issues.
  • Expedite supplier deliveries where required to minimise disruption to production.
  • Coordinate stock transfers between warehouses to maintain stock availability.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with UK and international suppliers.
  • Support supplier negotiations, tender processes and market bench marking activities.
  • Share purchasing forecasts with suppliers.
  • Communicate potential material shortages or supply issues to relevant departments.
  • Attend internal and external meetings as required.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and cost-saving initiatives across the supply chain.
  • Provide support to the wider purchasing team during periods of absence.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in a Buying, Purchasing Assistant or Junior Buyer role.
  • Experience within an FMCG or manufacturing environment is desirable.
  • Knowledge of SAP or a similar ERP system.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to prioritise workloads and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • A proactive and positive approach to problem-solving.
  • Willingness to work towards a CIPS qualification.
