Junior Art Worker required to join the in house design department of a flourishing business. Due to growth and increasing demand, they are seeking a commercially minded person to be offered on the job training to build a successful career working in a fast paced, dynamic and team orientated environment.
This position offers a fantastic opportunity to work within a dynamic design department and contribute towards major projects. The ideal candidate will be a diligent and highly organised individual, commercially focused with an interest in pursuing a career in artwork and design.
You will help to produce print ready product packaging across a wide range of artwork projects for several product brands, as well as helping to maintain the company website. You must be meticulous in working practices and able to produce error free artwork to the correct technical specifications. Working in a fast-paced environment, you must have experience of working to tight deadlines and schedules.
Key responsibilities
- Generate print-ready layouts across a wide range of design projects, predominantly branded packaging, instruction manuals and labels.
- Deliver accurate and high quality artwork to tight deadlines.
- Retouch artwork images quickly and accurately using Photoshop.
- Communicate effectively with internal departments to ensure artwork is produced in line with the brief.
- Ensure all technical and print specifications are met, including checking spot colours, image resolution, text and compliance/legal requirements.
- Typeset branded instruction manuals and occasionally assist with error checking of all artwork and instruction manuals in line with specified guidelines.
- Assist with the direction of photographic shots including props and lighting, whilst conforming to brand guidelines for all product images.
- Keep and maintain up to date records of both print & digital sales materials for use across the Marketing department.
- Help with administration of the company website.
Role requirements
- Working knowledge of print production processes.
- Ideally relevant degree at 2:1, however work experience will be taken into account.
- Confident Mac user with excellent working knowledge of Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign CC.
- Minimum of 12 months previous work experience.
- A meticulous eye for detail and strong creative visualisation skills.
- Ability to follow instruction and work to a defined brief.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong organisational and time management skills, with a good attention to detail.
- Aptitude to work well under pressure on a number of projects simultaneously.
- Must be a team player with a great work ethic and desire to succeed.
- Knowledge of website administration would be helpful, but not essential - CMS training will be provided for the administration of the website.
