Hospital Catering Assistant

We are currently seeking a dedicated and reliable Hospital Catering Assistant to join our team. As a catering assistant, you will play a vital role in providing quality food services to patients, staff, and visitors while adhering to strict food safety and hygiene standards. This is a temporary position with the potential for permanent employment.

Responsibilities:

- Assist in the preparation and serving of meals to patients, staff, and visitors according to dietary requirements and portion control guidelines.

- Ensure that all food items are handled, stored, and prepared in a safe and hygienic manner, in compliance with Food and Hygiene Level 2 standards.

- Maintain cleanliness and organisation in the kitchen area, including washing dishes, utensils, and equipment.

- Assist in the receiving and storage of deliveries, checking for quality and quantity.

- Collaborate with the catering team to ensure smooth and efficient operations, including setting up and clearing dining areas.

- Follow all health and safety regulations, including the proper handling and disposal of waste.

- Provide excellent customer service, responding to inquiries and addressing any concerns promptly and professionally.

- Adhere to hospital policies and procedures, including infection control protocols.

Requirements:

- Food and Hygiene Level 2 certification is essential.

- Standard Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) clearance is required.

- Previous experience in a catering or food service role is preferred.

- Knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices, including allergen awareness.

- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.

- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

- Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
