💷 Pay: £16.11 per hour (💰 Enhanced rates for Bank Holidays)
📝 About the Role:
We're hiring HGV Class 2 Refuse Driver/Loaders to work with our local authority in Thanet. You'll be responsible for driving refuse vehicles and supporting a team of assistance on residential waste, recycling rounds & coastal areas across Thanet:
📌 Margate | Westgate-on-Sea | Broadstairs | Ramsgate | Surrounding areas
This role involves navigating tight residential streets & coastal promenades - ideal for drivers with previous HGV experience.
This is a varied driving role which operates 7 day a week. Shifts will be varied, and you are booked in a week in advance.
🛠 Key Responsibilities:
✔️ Drive HGV vehicles and other required vehicles
✔️ Act as Team Leader, overseeing the work of team members
✔️ Empty street & promenade bins, collect sacks, bulky items, and other waste
✔️ Perform routine maintenance checks and complete vehicle defect reports
✔️ Ensure vehicles are kept clean and in good working condition
✔️ Operate vehicles in compliance with Health & Safety regulations and legal requirements
✔️ Load and transport waste to transfer stations or designated sites
✔️ Work outdoors in various weather conditions and perform physical tasks as required
📌 Requirements:
🔹 Valid HGV Class 1 (C+E) or Class 2 (C) licence
🔹 Valid CPC licence
🔹 Knowledge of the Thanet area (preferred)
🔹 Ability to work independently and as part of a team
🔹 Strong understanding of highway safety and working time regulations
🔹 Willingness to complete a theory test on Domestic & EU Working Time Directive and Highway Code knowledge & a PASS mark is essential.
