HRGO are recruiting for a Head of Operations - for our client based in Sandwich. Hybrid Working with some travel within Kent and occasionally locations outside of Kent . The Head of Operations is a senior position responsible for ensuring CSEK's legal, governance and finance processes are robust, well managed and in line with best practise.

The role is key in supporting the CEO to ensure CSEK meets its legal obligations and to optimise CSEK's operational efficiency by ensuring operational systems and processes are effective and efficient.

The Head of Operations will work closely with the Head of Services, Finance Officer and Fundraising and Partnerships Manager and will provide leadership and management of the following areas: Health and Safety, Premises, Human Resources, Policies and Procedures, Administration, Quality Assurance, Information and Data Management and Systems, Risk Management.

The Head of Operations will also provide support to the CEO and Board of Trustees to meet our governance requirements as a Charity and to implement our Strategic Plans.

The Head of Operations will line manage a team providing business, finance and HR administration; IT & Systems, Information Governance, Health and Safety and premises management, working closely with external providers e.g. HR, IT and Financial services.

Core Duties:

  • Responsible for leading and managing the operational aspects of the Charity and ensuring CSEK complies with its legal obligations.

  • Lead and line manage the operational team, ensuring they are motivated, developed, effectively supervised and appraised, including recruitment, appointment and training of new staff.

  • Work collaboratively with other members of the management team on delivering strategic and organisation-wide objectives.

  • Prepare a range of management information reports for the CEO and Board and other stakeholders as required.

  • Contribute to and support the cycle of strategic review and planning and implementation of CSEK's Strategic and Operational plans.

  • Provide support to the CEO and CSEK Chair to manage the administration of the Board and its committees and governance requirements.

  • Attend Board and Committee meetings as required, reporting on operational and governance matters.

  • Ensure CSEK's finance, governance and legal processes are robust, well managed and in line with best practise.

  • Establish and maintain the operational structures needed to deliver and develop our services.


  • Knowledge of employment law, HR issues, systems and best practice

  • Knowledge of Office management and Health and Safety legislation

  • Knowledge of risk assessment and management practices

  • University standard of education and/or a management

qualification or experience of working at senior management level

  • Experience of managing finance, HR, office systems and

administration functions at a senior level

  • Experience of drafting and reviewing policies and procedures

This is a full-time, permanent position, 37.5 hours per week, and is an excellent opportunity to work with a great team and reputable company.
