Carpenter / Multi-Skilled Handyman

We are currently looking for a skilled and dependable Carpenter / Multi-Skilled Handyman to assist with works in Eastbourne. The jobs are relatively minor and mainly consist of final touch-up items that were missed by previous contractors.
The ideal candidate will be practical, versatile, and confident working across a range of property maintenance tasks, including carpentry, general handyman duties, and light electrical work. A valid DBS check is essential for this role.
The Role
This is a hands-on position suited to an experienced carpenter or multi-skilled tradesperson who can work independently and deliver high-quality finishing work across residential and/or commercial properties.
The role will involve carrying out carpentry repairs and installations, general maintenance tasks, minor electrical works, and other final snagging items to ensure properties are completed to a high standard.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carrying out all aspects of carpentry work, including repairs, installations, adjustments, and bespoke woodwork
- Undertaking general handyman and property maintenance tasks across residential and/or commercial sites
- Performing basic electrical duties within the scope of qualification, including:
- Replacing sockets, switches, and light fittings
- Fault finding and minor repairs
- Assisting qualified electricians where required
- Completing basic plumbing, decorating, and general repair work
- Carrying out outdoor maintenance tasks, including:
- Fencing repairs
- Building or repairing small structures
- General garden works such as tidying, laying weed membrane, and shingling
- Responding to maintenance requests efficiently and professionally
- Ensuring all work is completed safely and in line with regulations and best practice
- Maintaining tools, equipment, and a clean, tidy working environment
Essential Requirements:
- Proven experience as a carpenter or multi-skilled tradesperson
- Strong general handyman and property maintenance experience
- Basic electrical certification or training (e.g. 18th Edition awareness or equivalent)
- Basic experience with fire safety and security systems
- Good understanding of health and safety practices
- Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively
- Valid DBS check (required)
- Full UK driving licence preferred
- Own tools preferred
- Reliable, punctual, and trustworthy
Desirable Skills:
- Experience working in property maintenance or facilities management
- Additional trade skills such as plumbing, decorating, or landscaping
- Experience working in residential and/or commercial environments
- Ability to assist qualified electricians on site
