We are excited to be representing our client in Sandwich who are seeking seeking a Temporary Responsible Financial Officer (RFO) to join the team for a period of approximately three months within the Town Council and the Sandwich Toll Bridge Fund. This critical role ensures the smooth running of all financial functions, compliance, and support to Council operations.
🛠️ Key Responsibilities
✔️ Ensure compliance with Council/Toll Bridge Fund Financial Regulations
📊 Prepare budgets, management accounts, and year-end financial statements
🧾 Manage payroll, pensions, VAT returns, and HMRC submissions
🔍 Coordinate audits and implement internal financial controls
💼 Maintain financial records, asset registers, and bank reconciliations
📝 Provide financial advice to Council, Committees, and officers
🏛️ Administer invoices, contracts, insurance, and charity finances
🗂️ Support Guildhall bookings and income processes
✅ Requirements
🎓 AAT Level 3 (minimum) or equivalent finance qualification
💼 Strong background in financial management (public sector preferred)
📈 Excellent analytical and strategic thinking skills
🗣️ Clear and confident communicator, both written and verbal
🔒 High standard of accuracy, ethics, and confidentiality
⏳ Ability to prioritise, meet deadlines, and work under pressure
