Financial Assistant (Part-Time) 20-25 hours per week

We're recruiting a part-time Financial Assistant to join a small, friendly Accounts team. This is a hands-on role supporting the day-to-day running of the purchase and sales ledgers, with scope to develop your skills further. On-site training is provided, and AAT progression support is available for the right candidate.

Key details:

  • Hours: 20-25 hours per week (Monday to Friday, with some flexibility for the right person)

  • Holiday: 5.6 weeks (28 days incl. Bank Holidays) pro rata (Year 1 / part-time)

  • Salary: £26,300-£28,300 per annum (pro rata based on 37.5 hours) / £13.50-£14.50 per hour DOE

  • Probation: 6 months

  • Training/Induction: Provided on site

  • H&S / PPE: Provided

Key responsibilities:

  • Support an efficient and accurate accounts function within a small team

  • Manage Purchase Ledger and Sales Ledger activity

  • Accounts Payable (AP): process invoices accurately and on time, ensure timely payments, reconcile supplier statements

  • Accounts Receivable (AR): handle sales ledger queries, credit control, process credit notes, support debt referral process

  • Run/assist with credit checks and reports for new customers

  • Assist with month-end, year-end and audit preparation as required

  • Use and update various electronic portals

  • Provide cover for colleagues during periods of absence

  • Maintain clear records, filing and keep systems up to date

Essential skills & experience:

  • AAT Level 2 (or equivalent)

  • Previous experience in an accounting office environment

  • Strong organisation and admin skills with a methodical approach

  • Confident communication skills (phone/email)

  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy

  • Fluent English (spoken and written)

  • Able to work under pressure and adapt to changing priorities

  • Microsoft Office 365, with intermediate Excel skills

Desirable:

  • Manufacturing environment experience

  • e-Banking platforms / software integration experience (HSBC)

  • EFACS or SAP experience
