Finance Manager - Midsomer Norton

Salary: £40,000-£45,000 | Hours: 40 per week (Mon-Fri) | Working pattern: Flexible hours
Direct reports: None. Hybrid after probation

The role

We're looking for a hands-on Finance Manager to take ownership of the day-to-day finance function and deliver clear, timely financial reporting that supports business decisions. This is a varied role covering ledgers, month-end, budgeting/forecasting, cash flow, VAT, and year-end-working closely with senior management, external accountants/auditors, and the wider group/holding company.

What you'll be doing

  • Run the day-to-day finance function (purchase & sales ledgers, invoice processing, reconciliations)

  • Manage credit control and proactively chase overdue payments

  • Complete bank reconciliations and maintain strong banking controls/access

  • Prepare month-end journals (accruals, prepayments, depreciation) and deliver accurate management accounts

  • Produce monthly reporting packs and financial insight for management meetings

  • Lead annual budgeting and produce rolling cash flow forecasts; manage working capital

  • Ensure VAT compliance and submit VAT returns; support quarterly tax reporting requirements

  • Support year-end accounts and audit preparation; act as main point of contact for accountants/auditors and group reporting

What we're looking for

Essential

  • Fully AAT qualified (or equivalent experience)

  • Strong technical accounting knowledge and hands-on finance operations experience

  • Sage proficiency and advanced Excel skills

  • Experience producing management accounts, budgets, and cash flow forecasts

  • Working knowledge of VAT and statutory reporting requirements

  • Highly organised with excellent attention to detail and stakeholder communication

Desirable

  • Payroll experience (may be outsourced)

  • Manufacturing/product-based business experience

  • Exposure to international/group reporting
