This is a senior role combining workshop management with new business development. The post holder will be responsible for the effective day-to-day operation of the fabrication workshop, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. In parallel, the role will actively contribute to business growth by identifying, developing, and securing new commercial opportunities. Area covered East Suffolk, Cambridge and Essex.
Requirements
Proven experience within a fabrication, metalwork, or engineering workshop environment.
Demonstrable experience in managing and leading teams.
Evidence of success in business development, sales, or client relationship management within a technical or industrial setting.
Strong understanding of fabrication processes, materials, and production timelines.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results to deadlines.
Proactive, self-motivated, and commercially aware approach.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee the daily operations of the fabrication workshop, including planning, workflow coordination, and scheduling of projects.
Lead, manage, and develop the workshop team in conjunction with the Workshop Foreman, ensuring clear direction, motivation, and performance standards.
Ensure all fabrication work meets company quality standards, technical specifications, and customer requirements.
Prepare and present proposals, quotations, and tender submissions in collaboration with internal teams.
Represent the company at client meetings, industry events, trade shows, and networking opportunities.
