Monday to Thursday, 6:00am - 4:00pm (moving to permanent nights following induction: Monday to Wednesday, 6:00pm - 6:00am)

We're recruiting for a hands-on Extrusion Operator / Team Leader to play a key role in developing a growing extrusion operation. This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established manufacturer where you'll combine your technical expertise with the opportunity to support and guide a small production team.

The Role

As an Extrusion Operator / Team Leader, you'll be responsible for operating and setting up rubber extrusion machinery while helping to ensure production targets, quality standards and health & safety requirements are consistently achieved.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Setting up and operating rubber extrusion machinery.
  • Preparing raw materials and ensuring the correct compounds are used.
  • Monitoring machine performance and making adjustments to maintain product quality.
  • Carrying out product changeovers efficiently.
  • Completing quality inspections using measuring equipment.
  • Troubleshooting production issues and working closely with engineering to minimise downtime.
  • Supporting and motivating colleagues throughout the shift.
  • Assisting with work allocation to ensure production schedules are met.
  • Completing production documentation accurately.
  • Promoting excellent housekeeping and health & safety standards.
  • Supporting continuous improvement and Lean manufacturing initiatives.

The candidate:

  • Previous experience operating rubber extrusion machinery.
  • Previous Team Leader or Supervisory experience would be advantageous
  • A strong understanding of rubber compounds and extrusion processes.
  • Experience using measuring equipment such as calipers and profile gauges.
  • The ability to read engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • A proactive approach with a strong commitment to quality and safety.
