Electrical Maintenance Engineer

  • Location: Bishop's Stortford area - (Own transport required due to location)
  • Salary: £37,000-£40,000 per annum (depending on experience)
  • Shift pattern: Earliest and Lates rotating - (Candidates must be able to work shifts)
  • Late Shift premium at 20%
  • Hours: 8.30AM - 1.30PM & 1.30pm - 10.00PM
  • Permanent, full-time

We're partnering with a luxury cosmetics manufacturer to recruit a talented Electrical Maintenance Engineer who will play a key role in keeping their production operations running smoothly and efficiently.

You'll be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and optimising FMCG production machinery, with a strong emphasis on electrical installations, fault finding and PLC monitoring in a fast-paced filling and packaging environment.

What you'll do

  • Carry out electrical installations, repairs, and PLC monitoring on a range of FMCG production equipment.
  • Perform setting and tooling changes to bottle filling equipment, bottle sorting equipment, application torque machinery, ink jet coding machinery, cap sorting bowls and elevators.
  • Complete scheduled cleaning, sanitisation, and washouts of production machinery on daily, weekly, and monthly cycles.
  • Conduct fault-finding inspections, identify root causes, and replace components to ensure smooth, reliable performance.
  • Respond to production demands by prioritising tasks and adapting to changing requirements to support filling schedules.
  • Safely handle and transport materials (up to approx. 15kg) and follow all manual handling and safety procedures.
  • Work closely with production teams to ensure work is completed on time and to a high standard.

What you'll need - Essential:

  • Engineering Level 3 NVQ (or equivalent).
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in a similar industry or electrical maintenance discipline.
  • Experience with PLC fault finding (Omron/Mitsubishi/Siemens).
  • Strong experience in general maintenance and repair activities, including electrical fault finding and parts replacement.
  • Valid driving licence.
  • Ability and willingness to work a shift pattern.
  • Strong manual handling skills and competence with a variety of hand tools.
  • Clear communication skills, with the ability to share information effectively with colleagues.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving, accountability, and working to deadlines.
  • A collaborative, positive attitude and the ability to work well with others.

Desirable:

  • HND/Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering.
  • Powered pallet truck licence.
  • Previous experience with bottle filling, packaging and associated machinery.
