We are recruiting an experienced CNC Turner in S63 9BL Rotherham to join a busy precision engineering team. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled CNC Turner machinist who can produce complex, high-quality components and take ownership of part programming, setting and operating CNC turning centres with FANUC control and driven tools.

Please note this position is working on a rotating shift pattern. Mon to Fri 0600-1400 (week 1) and Mon to Thur 1400-0000 (week 2)

  • £20-£22ph (depending on experience)
  • OT paid @ 1.5x (basic + bonus)
  • 6% bonus eligible after probation

Key areas of accountability & responsibility

  • Act as technical authority for shift.
  • Program, set and operate various machining centres.
  • Participate in and contribute to effective Production Meetings.
  • Communicate Production Plan and assign appropriate work to Team Members.
  • Pro-actively drive performance of the shift to achieve the defined plan, ensuring that your own and the teams' work is finished on time and to the correct standard.
  • Identify development needs and with the support of the Production Manager, organise, plan and deliver training solutions accordingly.
  • Identify and utilise best practice methods for work holding, tight tolerance machining and tooling.
  • Work with Engineering to identify and help deliver manufacturing cost & time savings.
  • Support Manufacturing Engineer with NPI process, including the use of CAD/CAM where appropriate.
  • Liaise with the Operations Manager regarding machine breakdowns and repairs.
  • Promote and assist in the implementation of the appropriate Lean techniques and Continuous Improvement.
  • Conduct quality investigations and reviews to determine true root cause of defects.
  • Ensure all company procedures and policies are upheld.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Ideally a time served apprentice with a wide range of engineering experience and basic IT skills.
  • Minimum 10 years relevant programming experience
  • Minimum 3 years supervisory
  • Confident of working on medium to high volume batch work and fully skilled to program, set and operate CNC machining centres with driven tools.
  • Fully competent with all types of inspection equipment to verify component quality.
  • Leads by example.
  • Pro-active team player with good inter-personal and motivational skills.
  • The ability to communicate at all levels, not afraid to challenge the status quo and deliver a positive change.
  • Experience of working with robots/automation
