CNC Machine Operative - Rotating Shifts - £20-£22ph - Apply Now!

HRGO Recruitment are hiring an experienced CNC Machine Operative to join a busy precision engineering team in Rotherham S63. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled CNC Machine Operative with strong programming, setting and operating experience to work within a fast-paced manufacturing environment producing complex, high-quality components.

The successful candidate will ideally have extensive CNC machining experience, including programming, setting and operating CNC machining centres using FANUC and HURCO controls, along with previous supervisory experience.

Employee Benefits:

  • Pay £20.00 - £22.00 per hour, depending on experience

  • Overtime paid at 1.5x

  • 6% bonus after successful completion of probation

  • Week 1: Monday to Friday, 6am-2pm

  • Week 2: Monday to Thursday, 2pm-midnight

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Program, set and operate CNC machining centres

  • Act as the technical authority for the shift

  • Produce complex, high-quality components to required standards

  • Communicate the production plan and allocate work to team members

  • Drive shift performance to ensure production targets are achieved

  • Participate in production meetings and contribute to effective planning

  • Identify training and development needs within the team

  • Support and train team members where required

  • Identify and use best practice methods for work holding, tight tolerance machining and tooling

  • Work with Engineering to identify manufacturing cost and time savings

  • Support the Manufacturing Engineer with NPI processes, including CAD/CAM where appropriate

  • Liaise with the Operations Manager regarding machine breakdowns and repairs

  • Support Lean and Continuous Improvement activities

  • Carry out quality investigations and identify root causes of defects

  • Ensure all components meet required quality standards

  • Follow all company policies, procedures and health and safety requirements

  • Lead by example and promote a positive team environment

About You:

  • Minimum 10 years' relevant CNC programming experience - essential

  • Minimum 3 years' supervisory experience - essential

  • Strong experience programming, setting and operating CNC machining centres

  • Experience using FANUC and HURCO controls - essential

  • Ideally a time-served engineering apprentice with a broad engineering background

  • Experience working with medium to high volume batch production

  • Fully competent using inspection and measuring equipment

  • Strong understanding of tight tolerance machining

  • Experience working with robots and automation

  • Good understanding of CAD/CAM and NPI processes

  • Good basic IT skills

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Able to lead and motivate a team

  • Proactive and confident in challenging processes and suggesting improvements

  • Able to work effectively under pressure in a busy production environment

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality

  • Able to work independently and as part of a team

Desirable Skills / Experience:

Experience in any of the following would be advantageous:

  • Time-served engineering apprenticeship

  • FANUC CNC controls

  • HURCO CNC controls

  • CNC programming, setting and operating

  • CAD/CAM

  • NPI

  • Lean Manufacturing / Continuous Improvement

  • Robotics and automation

  • Previous CNC supervisory or team leader experience
