We are looking for a highly motivated and proactive Civil Enforcement Officer to join our team at the local Council. The Civil Enforcement team plays a pivotal role in helping the District Council fulfil the requirements of the Traffic Management Act 2004.
As a Civil Enforcement Officer, you will take on a unique and innovative role by conducting street patrols across designated areas within the district.
📋 Responsibilities:
🚧 Enforce parking restrictions in accordance with the Traffic Management Act 2004 and Traffic Regulation Orders for Thanet.
✉️ Issue Penalty Charge Notices to vehicles parked illegally.
🔍 Collect sufficient evidence when issuing Penalty Charge Notices.
🔧 Conduct daily maintenance checks of pay and display machines and report any issues.
🏙️ Perform weekly car park inspections.
🛑 Identify and report damaged road and car park signs, faded lines, or missing signage that requires replacement.
🤝 Assist the public with council-related inquiries to provide outstanding customer service.
🤝 Collaborate with other enforcement teams, CCTV, and local police to share intelligence.
🚗 Investigate reports of abandoned vehicles, overseeing the process from initial report to removal.
👮 Participate in joint operations with CCTV and Streetscene Enforcement.
✅ Requirements:
📚 Basic knowledge of the Highway Code, Road Traffic Regulations Act 1991, Traffic Management Act, and other relevant legislation.
📍 Strong understanding of the Thanet area.
💻 Basic computer skills.
🚗 Valid, clean driving license.
💬 Excellent communication skills.
⚡ Ability to work under pressure.
👥 Capability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
☀️ Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
🏋️ Physically fit.
🔎 Attention to detail.
📝 Previous experience in a similar role is desirable but not essential.
