Mechanic/ Vehicle Technician (Night Shift) Night shift times are 18:30pm to 04:00am Their week will be Monday evening to Saturday morning. Superb client based in Rainham- Essex London is recruiting a Level 3 fully qualified Auto technician / Car mechanic / Motor vehicle technician. This is a great role for level 3 qualified tech with excellent diagnostic experience to work in a state-of-the-art workshop, with a very good background of the latest technology as in EV vehicles, working as a team with very good time keeping. You will be dealing with all repairs on emergency vehicles.

The role
Join us as a Motor Vehicle Technician and you'll be part of a highly skilled team supporting the Metropolitan Police Service behind the scenes. By servicing and repairing MPS vehicles safely and efficiently, you'll make sure the MPS is there for London every day. You will diagnose faults and test vehicles using our state-of-the-art equipment. You'll also service, adjust and repair components and accessories, reporting any defects. As you work, you'll complete warranty job cards and make sure technical service information is implemented. With officers depending on us for reliable vehicles, high standards are essential.

Essential experience
* City & Guilds or NVQ levels 1, 2 & 3 (or equivalent)
* Proven working experience with a manufacturer or dealership
* Ability to obtain Metropolitan Police Standard clearance
* An understanding of the manufacturer warranty process
* Experience using diagnostic machines and understanding of diagnostic processes
* You must be able to achieve the appropriate level of Security Clearance

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • To service, adjust and repair vehicles, components and accessories including removal and refitting in a safe, proper and economical manner using equipment provided.
  • To diagnose faults and test vehicles utilising equipment available and using recognised test procedures and techniques. This will include road testing where deemed necessary. To drive in a manner within the parameters of the law and ensuring that all police signs are covered appropriately
  • To observe, recognise and report on defects and/or symptoms of impending failure. Identification of recharge costs advising the Workshop Controller and correct completion of paperwork
  • To order from the parts department, all necessary replacement parts, ensuring that no parts are fitted to vehicles other than those required to complete the work
  • To interpret technical service information and data from manuals, bulletins and or computer files and data. Implement by applying correct techniques
  • To ensure at all times that equipment and tools are kept in a clean, safe condition and to report any shortages or damaged/faulty equipment the line manager
  • Conduct work in a safe tidy and clean manner taking responsibility for the working environment and allocated work area, cleaning work area after completion jobs
  • Ensure all warranty job card completions are followed in order to maintain compliance to the terms of warranty in-house status.
  • Maintain the workshop in safe and clean manner in accordance with requirements.
