Position: Transport Planner
Location: Wirral
House: Monday - Friday
Salary: £NEG DOE
PURPOSE OF ROLE.
To ensure effective and efficient utilisation of fleet, diverting work to pallet network and sub-contractors when required. Maximizing vehicle capacity, sub-contracting work to approved hauliers and routing for PT outbound consignments There is also a high level of communication with other staff and managers and close working with logistics manager and support team to discuss service issues, potential or real to ensure efficient and customer focused service and cover administrator roles in absence or heavy workload.
Identifying and allocating consignments with TMS to fleet, contracting or pallet network
Proactive sub-contracting of loads to approved contractors
Effective utilisation of fleet vehicles to consolidate freight to customer service requirements
Ensure accurate input into TMS of driver, vehicle, trailer, pallet number and weights for collections and deliveries
Instruction to drivers for collection of freight and create collection note or instruct drivers to create collection note ensuring all job information is passed to driver
Cover for traffic Administrators in absence or heavy workload
Pallet Track operation for driver daily runs and morning or evening operation as required
Management of planned preventative maintenance and rectification for fleet in accordance with operator requirements
Attend and present at external customer and supplier meetings and internal meetings to aid business development and working relationships
Other areas of responsibility - management of WTD, accident recording and procedure, driver licencing, maintenance and purchase of fleet equipment
Deal directly with customers by telephone, face to face or electronically
Skills and Requirements
Proven background in transport operations role
Excellent customer service and organisation skills
Strong IT skills on Microsoft packages
Full clean driving license
Geographical knowledge of UK roads
